PAYRATE: $45,000-$50,000 annually

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Ridgewood Y Breakers Swim Team seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Coach and Team Coordinator to support our swimmers and team. The Assistant Coach and Team Coordinator will report directly to the VP of Aquatics/Director of Competitive Swimming and work closely with them to provide high-quality training, technique instruction, and motivation to our swimmers. The central component of this role will be developing our team program, supporting our swimmers’ development and goals across various age groups, and assisting with backend organization and meet operations. It is ideal for someone passionate about working with all athletes, from the youngest of athletes to our highly competitive seniors, in a positive and encouraging environment.
JOB FUNCTION:
- Create an environment that fosters a positive team attitude while teaching self-discipline, sportsmanship, responsibility, and respect.
- Collaborate with the VP of Aquatics and Lead Age Group Coach to develop and implement a swim training program that is technically sound, age-appropriate, and developmentally appropriate, including both water and dryland training. The program should enable swimmers of varying abilities to reach their full potential, while considering different learning styles.
- Communicate and work effectively with the VP of Aquatics, other coaches, parents of swimmers, and the board of directors regarding all matters of the club.
- Demonstrate mature judgment, reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, positive and constructive feedback, and the ability to function in a multi-task environment.
- Work meet sessions as directed by the Head Coach.
- Participate in team activities, fundraisers, and community outreach efforts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous competitive swimming or coaching experience preferred.
- USA Swimming Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain before employment).
- Strong knowledge of stroke mechanics, training techniques, and swimmer development.
- Ability to work effectively with young athletes, parents, and fellow coaches.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and travel for meets as needed.
- CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification (or willingness to obtain before employment).
